Kurt Retter heads the firm-wide Regulatory team. He has practiced in various fields of regulatory law including: Constitutional, international and EU law, fundamental rights, planning and environmental law, regulated industries (energy, telecommunications and rail), life sciences, insurance, banking and finance, gambling law, compliance, data protection, infrastructure projects, aviation, as well as private clients. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, he worked in the insurance industry, gathering valuable business experience as an assistant to the board of the Austrian subsidiaries of one of the world’s largest insurance groups. Kurt started his professional career teaching constitutional and administrative law at the University of Vienna for five years and working for a large Austrian law firm as an associate.

Dominik Engel is a member of the Regulatory team in Vienna. Since 2018 he has been advising clients particularly in life science and regulated fields. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, Dominik gained legal experience at a renowned international law firm supporting the corporate law and M&A team as well as at the legal department of a major international steel and technology group. Holding law degrees from the Vienna University of Economics (LL.B. 2016, LL.M. 2018, Dr. iur. 2021) as well as a degree in Business Administration with specializations in Finance and Accounting, Dominik is regularly publishing on public law and regulatory law issues. 

Dominik Fluch ist seit 2022 Compliance Officer der Kapsch TrafficCom, einem weltweit anerkannter Anbieter von Verkehrslösungen für nachhaltige Mobilität. Zuvor war der Corporate-Compliance Experte beim Baukonzern STRABAG tätig und dabei unter anderem an der Einführung eines gruppenweiten Systems zur Überprüfung von Geschäftspartnern beteiligt. Der studierte Jurist verfügt auch über die offizielle Zertifizierung zum Compliance Officer.

Ulrich Buechsenschuetz is a solution consultant focusing on KYC/AML and third party risk management programs. He has joined Thomson Reuters, the predecessor organisation of Refinitiv, in 2014. Before this, he has led a team of due diligence and investigations consultants at major international risk management consultancy Control Risks.

His experience includes project work in the German-speaking countries and Eastern Europe. In Bulgaria, he advised financial institutions as well as major international energy and infrastructure companies on political and compliance risks.

James Faulkner is a Business Director for the London Stock Exchange Group.

James has managed large customers within the MENA region ranging from financial institutions, government entities and corporates over the last eight years.

James’s began his market development and relationship management role as the face of Thomson Reuters back in 2016. After successfully delivering multiple interviews, events and videos with c-level officials, James began hosting major events, ceremonies and MCing in 2018 for Refinitiv.

studierte Internationale Betriebswirtschaft an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien und Rechtswissenschaften am Juridicum Wien und sammelte mehrjährige Erfahrung im Risikomanagement-Umfeld der Raiffeisenbank International. Als Head of Financial Crime Management verantwortet er im Bereich Group Compliance der Raiffeisenbank International neben Fiscal Reporting Compliance (u.a. FATCA, CRS) die Themen Betrugs- und Korruptionsprävention, Management von Interessenkonflikten, Whistleblowing sowie Management von Kundenbeschwerden.
